The palace of Buckingham, official residence of the king in London, opens its doors each summer, revealing 19 sumptuous ceremonial rooms decorated with royal treasures, including works by Rembrandt and Canova. Among the emblematic spaces, the white living room and the throne room, used for the official photos of the prince and the princess of Wales, are to be discovered.
The visit includes Saint-Paul cathedral, masterpiece of Sir Christopher Wren, built after the great fire of 1666. His imposing dome and his crypt shelter historic treasures. An exhibition celebrates the 300th anniversary of Wren's death, highlighting its contributions in architecture and sciences.
The London tower, a millennial fortress, reveals a dark story of imprisonment and executions. It houses the jewels of the crown, including the star of Africa, and the famous crows, symbolic guards of the monarchy.
The day ends with a cruise on the Thames, offering a breathtaking view of the London seafront. An immersion in British history and culture
