Description of your experience
The construction of the Ajuda National Palace was not smooth. The structure you see today is not the original. Originally, King Jean V had planned to make the palace a summer residence in the first half of the 18th century, but the construction started only after the destruction of the paço da Ribeira, the royal residence located in the center of Lisbon, by an earthquake in 1755.
The first palace of Ajuda was built in wood, but it was burned in 1794. Resistant to fire you see today. To date, the ceremonies of the Republic and the presidency take place in the palace.
